{DIY family stationary album}

Hi there, October Follow Fest blog-hoppers!
I'm so happy you're visiting!

I'll be sure to return the love!
I have Saturday night plans to cuddle on the couch
and visit as many of your blogs as I possibly can.

After working really hard this week to meet a deadline at work
while caring for a sick little boy
I needed to make something.
Do you ever get that feeling that you just have to create?
These days my projects are as minimal as they can be
since my little guy is napping less and less
and requiring more of my attention.

So today I had the perfect fifteen minutes for a project I'd been holding in my brain.

It was inspired by my nearly irrational affinity for stationary.
I spend hours upon hours searching for the perfect card to send in the mail
or creating invitations that embody the spirit of whatever event.
Christmas cards? Forget it. I already have mine picked out for this year.
Jacob's birth announcement... I had pictures taken of him when he was 5-days-old
so I could order the ones I fell in love with.
Baptism invitations? I made 75. Birthday invitations? I sewed them.
Anyway. I love stationary...
but I'm always sad that all that work ends up in the garbage or stuffed in a box.

So today I decided to put our special cards to use.
After today, they are neatly displayed in a vintage photo album I thrifted years ago.

It is really a timeline of our family's history.
It's so lovely to see where life has come in the past 2.5 years.
Right now it has our wedding invitation and program, our first Christmas card,
Jacob's birth announcement and baptism invitation, our second Christmas card,
and Jacob's first birthday party invitations and cake toppers.
There is plllllllenty of room for more, though.

I used mini ink stamps to embellish it a bit with special quotes like these.

What about you? Are you sad when you put away your family's cards?
What do you do with your family's stationary?

I'm linking up to Casey's October Fest today

Oh my goodness I am too obsessed with stationary! Great project you've got going on! I wish I had more time to do more things like this. I am currently working on a quote book where I can use some of my leftover craft materials but college takes up so much of my time :(
