Jacob watches his dad. All. The. Time.
He watches his dad kiss me. He watches his dad laugh and enjoy life.
He watches him come in the door after a long day of work.
He watches him fold laundry, wash dishes, paint walls, fix things around the house.
Right down to how he licks the fork after dinner.
It makes my heart flutter to see how much my son loves his dad.
Phil is Jake's reason to smile and laugh at the end of the day when mom is old news.
He wakes every morning and loudly searches for "DAH-DIE"
until I convince him that he's gone to work already.
Then he bolts for the door as soon as he sees Phil's car pull up or hears the door.
Sometimes I think about what kind of man Jake will become
but I know that watching his dad will be the biggest determining factor in that matter.
And I am f-i-n-e with that.
Jake has the best example of a man to emulate that I could ask for.
If he turns out to be anything like his father,
he'll be a loving, kindhearted, generous man.
He will have a servant's heart.
He'll think the best of people.
He'll remain positive, steadfast, and unwavering in tough situations.
He'll be reliable.
He'll love God and put Him first in life.
I'm thankful for my husband
but I'm even more thankful that he is the father of my children.
I hit the lottery with this guy.
I thank God for him every day.
Children have never been very good at
listening to their elders, but they have
never failed to imitate them.
- James Baldwin
I love you babe. You are a great father to our children.
They are lucky to have you. I am lucky to have you.
